About
Viviendo el Arte
History
Using
any measure or standard, the ‘Viviendo el Arte’ theatre
workshop (VeA) is one of the most successful youth
organizations in the Luís Lloréns Torres public housing
project.
VeA was created in 1997 by Antonio Morales, a 16 year-old
multi-talented drama student and resident of Llorens
Torres, to be a place where children and youth could
release their artistic potential as well as develop
attributes such as responsibility, loyalty, discipline,
love, and respect through learning all aspects of
theatre. VeA was founded on theses principles:
1. Promote education by ensuring that all youth finish
high school and go on to some type of post-high school
study
2. Maintain a safe and healthy atmosphere at all times.
Free of drugs!
3. Entertain and educate the audience with positive
social messages.
4. Develop self-confidence and constructive social
values and ethics.
5. Demonstrate artistic discipline and understand its
importance.
VeA provides a solid foundation for children and youth
interested in studying the theatrical arts. Their
theatrical training and development as human beings will
help them in their daily lives, be more aware of their
surroundings, more expressive and understanding in their
dealings with others. In a sense, VeA is a group about
life. As Roy Scheider, the actor once said, “Theatre
doesn’t exist because it’s entertainment. It exists
because it’s a part of the energy of living, of
humankind.” In some ways you might think of this group
as helping to live your life to the fullest. VeA is an
extended family that provides an environment to grow
emotionally, academically, physically, socially and
spiritually.
Since 2005, VeA has had its very own website!!! To
