Just a note to tell you that I can’t get the kids from VIVIENDO EL ARTE out of my mind. I was so impressed with everything I saw. It was electrifying! It was magical, it was funny, it was dramatic, and it was heart warming. But more than anything, it was heart breaking!

I’m amazed at the talent of Antonio, and to be honest, tho I kind of knew it, I guess I didn’t really, not until last night! I was spellbound. That play is great in so many ways and it has so much potential to do so much good. These kids are more than actors playing a part. This a real story of real lives; of their lives, of the struggles and heartbreaks they and their families and neighbors have been through and still go through. This is not play, this is REALITY, but yes, IT IS ART. They really are VIVIENDO EL ARTE, because they are genuinely bringing life to their art, and art to their lives.

I know what the right coaching and mentoring can do to help someone, but when it’s combined with LOVE, and with CARING - it can be TRANSFORMING (not only to the ones that are being helped, but to the one that is helping)! It is such a beautifully mutual, nurturing and sustaining relationship.

These kids have stolen my heart!

No wonder you are so proud of them. It’s a miracle of love right before you, and for you.

They are a great example of Puerto Rico for Puerto Rico, and FROM PUERTO RICO... to the world.

Un poco acerca de la trayectoria…

‘Por amor en el caserío’ debutó en el Teatro Lucy Boscana del instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña en el Viejo San Juan en Octubre del año 2000. Fue nuestro primer éxito, la misma toca los temas de problemas y situaciones que enfrentan los residentes de residenciales públicos.

Inspirada en la película West Side Story, con esta obra rompimos record al hacer sobre 50 funciones alrededor de la isla, incluyendo Vieques. Fuimos el primer grupo de teatro de un residencial en presentar una producción en el Teatro Tapia del Viejo San Juan así como en el Capitolio ante legisladores y senadores, haciéndonos entrega de nuestra primera (de dos) Resolución de parte de la Cámara de Representantes. Estuvimos ininterrumpidamente activos desde octubre del 2000 hasta Noviembre del 2001, 58 funciones en un año!

En el 2003, un grupo de 42 jóvenes viajó a la República Dominicana a presentar la obra a las Ciudades de Santo Domingo, Santiago y La Romana.

En el 2005 continuamos con la ruta teatral en Puerto Rico impactando diferentes pueblos de la isla y muchos residenciales públicos.

Entre el 2007 y 2008, la obra tuvo la oportunidad de visitar mas residenciales, cárceles, centros de rehabilitaciones, y teatros comunitarios. Se presentó en la Ciudad de México y próximamente en la Ciudad de Nueva York!

Ahora en el 2009, comenzamos el año con el pie que es! Damos inicio con nuestra 8va temporada en el Teatro Tapia, alcanzando ya las 125 representaciones! Estamos ansiosos por continuar haciendo lo que mas amamos hacer... ACTUAR, y para eso ¡tu asistencia es indispensable para nosotros!
